Today's Old School Design takes a look back at the USA Basketball Dream Team from 1992. These cups commemorating the original Dream Team were sold at McDonald's restaurants. The set included ten cups, each featuring a member of the Dream Team.
The Dream Team was THE story of 1992, as it was the first time that NBA players were allowed to compete in the Olympic Games. The Dream Team of 1992 is arguably the best basketball team ever assembled. The team was made up of the NBA's best players at the time including Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, David Robinson, Scottie Pippen, Patrick Ewing, Chris Mullin, Karl Malone, and another college guy who escapes my mind (Kentucky Wildcats fan talking here). Why Dominique Wilkins was not on the team instead of the college scrub, I have no idea, but that is a story for another day. The team was coached by the late Chuck Daly of the Detroit Pistons.
Each of these Dream Team cups featured a cool illustrated image of the featured player on the front in their USA Basketball uniform with their autograph. The other side of the cups have a panel with the career highlights of the featured player, along with the USA Basketball logo, the player's name and the McDonald's Olympic logo. These USA Basketball Dream Team cups are a great look back at one of the greatest sports teams ever assembled.

It's always bugged me that the American flag was hung backwards in those Dream Team photos.

"It's always bugged me that the American flag was hung backwards in those Dream Team photos."
it's especially weird considering it's for the most nationalistic of all sporting events. probably because the photographer was more concerned with having it "look right" since the proper way to vertically display the flag looks odd to most people.
